way. I think he's one of the most booked and renowned players of the planet. Simply because, especially when he likes what he's playing he gives the music the gift of THE FEELING. He is capable of giving magic to the songs simply staying somewhere in the background but yet being essential for the song. You just can't ignore him, you can recognize him since the very first note. some BIOGRAPHY: Pino Palladino was born in Cardiff, Uk, in 1957 and took up classical guitar when 14 years old. He moved into bass at 17, after getting into Motown players like James Jamerson and Jaco Pastorius. In the early 80s he collaborated with Jools Holland, and his popularity as session man became clear playing on "I assassin" by Gary Numan. But maybe all pop music lovers know or should know him by his wonderful works with the soulful voiced Paul Young, with whom he performed along all his albums with highlights like "Wonderland", "Wherever I lay my hat", "Love of the common people" and the gem remake of "I'm gonna tear your playhouse down". He participated on a everyday growing number of records, all with a common fact: good music. RECOMMENDED ALBUMS AND SONGS PHILIPPE SAISSE song "Masques" from "Masques" album (a GREAT song from a GREAT keyboardist/composer who's friend of a GREAT bassman. CHRIS BOTTI "First Wish" 1995 album for Verve Forecast. PAUL YOUNG marvelous "Other Voices" and the much underestimated "Between two fires". MIKE LINDUP album "Changes" especially on the outstanding final instrumental track "Jung". HOWIE LEE MORREL album "Hearsay" , song "GLADIATOR" , written by FUZZBEE MORSE and played by: : Pino Palladino - Bass, Jerry Marotta - Drums and Fuzzbee Morse - Guitars, Keyboards and Percussion. 1993 release. An absolute very unknown gem, in these "Gladiator" times... Last but not least, I've recently managed to find a copy of the fantastic "The shouting stage" by great Joan Armatrading, also highly recommended. Please for any NEWS regarding Pino take a look at the links. |
